Many managers dread appraisals. But in the mind of the employee they are highly important. This is because they have a chance to speak about performance, goals, progression, and salaries.
Appraisals are a powerful way of developing staff and maximizing their potential.
FORMAT
Half day accelerated workshop followed by post course e-prompts and buddy coaching to help integrate learning into day-to-day behaviours. Practical and interactive. Includes group work and work in pairs. Max recommended group size 15.

- Preparation – the right information to discuss past performance and set new objectives.
- Objective Review – Genuine objectivity is vital to help people open up and give you the 'real' reasons for past results.
- Active listening - To show a genuine interest in the other party's point of view, you must be prepared to listen and ask relevant questions.
- Performance not personalities - A fair appraisal minimizes subjective judgments born of manager's personal preferences.
- Specific about success & failure - Honest assessment of performance is essential. Being to the point and not glossing over awkward issues. Solid feedback skills.
- Agreed objectives – Well formed goals ensure a higher rate of success.
- Effective boundaries – Help clear understanding of expectations.
- Tricky people – How to do the right thing without upsetting people.
