Express Yourself - Communication Skills
A cutting edge programme unlocking the fundamentals of effective communication with more than just the people we happen to ‘click with.’ Based on proven models and also addresses barriers to our message getting through and how to repair conversations when they go wrong.
FORMAT
Half day accelerated workshop followed by post course e-prompts and buddy coaching to help integrate learning into day-to-day behaviours. Practical and interactive. Includes group work and work in pairs. Max recommended group size 15.

- The meaning of the communication is the 'response you get' principle
- Rapport - a foundation stone of effective communication
- Natural filters - how we distort information before we store it
- Active listening
- The power of a new perspective
- Different media - models of excellence in e-mail and letters
- Setting intentions for communication
- Applications of representational systems (visual, auditory and kinesthetic)
- Allowing for people’s natural preferences
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN DO AS A RESULT
- Control the messages they send out to others and consider the impact of each component of the full message
- Build rapport with others and learn how rapport is broken and strengthened
- Actively listening to pick up more than just digital verbal messages
- Use language that is rich and tailored to the intended recipients own mental filters to increase the chances of the intended message landing
- Apply simple repeatable techniques to gain new insight into other people’s perspectives and apply this to their communication
- Write e-mails/letters for a clear outcome
- Recognise and explain their intention when communication goes astray and relationships are strained
- Stretch themselves to become more flexible in their communication with respect to the recipients’ preferences and find their areas of strength and weakness
