Project Sponsor Training
This interactive workshop quickly gets to the heart of effective sponsorship. It teaches sponsors about how important they are to project success and how to contribute through effective PM coaching whilst gaining essential information on project progress.
FORMAT
One day with 1 trainer leading the group with the option of being followed by 3 sponsor reports and sponsor calls (co-modelling period). Highly interactive. Group work and work in pairs. Co-modelling carried out with y:u trainer by appointment.

- There is the option of a series of telephone conversations with each participant during this period. We will hold the sponsor accountable for their own projects and use a simple format so that we coach them as if we are their sponsor. They get to model us and add value to real ongoing projects. We will provide sponsorship tools. This approach is designed to encourage a coaching approach to their PM's instead of simply making demands.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN DO AS A RESULT
- Discuss the components of a Project Terms of Reference
- Understand the importance of tying all projects to the organization's strategic direction and business objectives
- Define roles and responsibilities of each key project stakeholder, including the sponsor and project manager
- Know what to look for in a Scope Statement, and recognise when to ask for more information before approving it
- How to identify good project plans
- Move beyond the Scope Statement to ensure that the project is well-planned, that risks are being managed and that after the planning process projects remain on track
- Coach project managers, so that when project issues arise, projects don't stall
- Get accurate project status reporting to find out what is really happening on your projects
